MusicNL Teams up with St. John's International Women's Film Festival for ticket giveaways

MusicNL will draw for 2 sets of tickets for film screenings with the St. John's International Women's Film Festival. The draw will take place on Sunday, October 15 at the Women in NL Music Conference Session, St. John's Convention Centre. The festival will two feature docs titled Chavela (about a Mexican Grammy award-winning personality Grammy-winning Mexican icon Chavela Vargas), and a closing night feature, Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World. Rumble is nothing less than a superbly produced documentary about the influence of native music on rock music. Fire at the Majestic Theatre

Last night there was a fire at the Majestic Theatre which will force the movement of some MusicNL Week 2017 shows. Please stay tuned to the site for updated venue information. "It's unfortunate as we were looking forward to using the beautifully refurbished building but we are trouble shooting as quickly as humanly possible," says Glenda Tulk, Executive Director of MusicNL. "We feel very sad for the Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland and Labrador and the venue staff and hope for speedy renovations as this type and size of venue is really needed in the  downtown core."   The Newfound Talent Show & Youth Workshop on October 11th has been moved to the Masonic Temple, 6 Cathedral St. The Gospel Show & MusicNL Songwriters' Circle: Legends & Stars has been moved to THE COCHRANE CENTRE, 81 Cochrane St

STATOIL MUSICNL NEWFOUND TALENT CONTEST 2017           Statoil and MusicNL are proud to present the Statoil MusicNL Newfound Talent Contest on Saturday, August 5 at the 41st Annual Folk Festival in Bannerman Park for the fourth consecutive year! Aimed at being a catalyst for propelling the careers of young musicians in Newfoundland & Labrador, the purpose of the contest is to discover, develop, encourage and showcase young entertainers. MusicNL is proud to offer young musicians the opportunity to kickstart their musical careers during MusicNL Week 2016! The contest will take place at the Bonavista Anglican Church on Wednesday, October 12th, 2016, kicking off MusicNL Week 2016. The NewFound Talent Contest is an opportunity for young musicians aged under 19 to gain performance experience and compete for a chance to win a prize bundle aimed at providing them with essential tools for their musical careers.
